Best in Show: Meet Murphy, a Goldendoodle from Ontario, Canada!

Some dogs are well-behaved. Murphy is not one of those dogs — and honestly, that's exactly what makes him so loveable. This 9-month-old F1B Goldendoodle from Ontario is dramatic, affectionate, and living life at full volume. From spontaneous air jumps to full face-plants in the snow, Murphy doesn't do anything halfway. Follow along on all of his adventures here: @mr.murphy.thedoodle

1. What is your dog’s name (+ nick names), breed, age, and where do you live?

Meet Murphy, aka Murph, Mr. Murphy, Scamp, or Mr. Murphy Man. He’s a 9-month-old F1B Goldendoodle from Ontario, Canada!

2. How would you describe your dog’s personality in three words?

Dramatic, affectionate, unhinged.

3. What makes your dog unique compared to other dogs of their breed?

He’s completely in his own world. He’s obsessed with face diving into the snow and has this signature move where he jumps straight up into the air, getting all four paws off the ground for no reason other than pure joy.

4. How did you and your dog first meet?

Murphy and I first met when he was 6 weeks old. I went to meet him and his 11 brothers and sisters, and he curled up in my arms like he already knew... and that was it.

5. What does a typical day look like for your dog?

Wake up (against his will), breakfast, chaos, parkour, walk, snack, dramatic rest, enrichment, second walk, dinner, Bluey, full crazy hours, pass out.

6. Is your dog more of a city pup or an outdoor adventurer?

Outdoor adventurer, but only if there’s mud, water, or something I’m not supposed to eat!

7. What are your dog’s favourite activities?

Swimming, jumping over things he shouldn’t, sniffing EVERYTHING, and watching the world from the balcony like it’s his job.

8. Does your dog have any funny habits or quirks?

The snow smush is a daily ritual. He’ll fully face-plant into it like he’s searching for something. He also randomly launches himself straight up into the air to get all four paws off the ground and loves a good dramatic body slam when he’s excited or tired. No warning, just chaos.

9. How would you describe your dog’s style — sporty, chic, playful, or classic?

Playful with main character energy.

10. What are your dog’s must-have accessories for walks or outings?

His collar, leash/long-line, his Frisbee, and his Gentle Leader, because otherwise we are
both sprinting.

11. Which Rover Boutique products are your dog’s favourites and why?

The bandanas, hands down. They’re durable enough to keep up with all his chaos but still fit the aesthetic. Plus, they’re so easy to clean after all his muddy adventures, which is a must with him.

12. Do strangers ever stop you to comment on your dog’s look?

Every walk. He fully expects it.

13. What is your dog’s favourite toy right now?

Socks (unfortunately), his Snuggle Puppy, and his giant duck. It really depends on the mood, but socks are always #1 if he can get his paws on them.

14. Favourite treat or snack?

Pup cups, salmon treats, and bully sticks!

15. Favourite place to nap?

Balcony naps or directly in front of a fan. He’s very serious about airflow.

16. Favourite season of the year and why?

Winter because snow = snack + chaos!!!

17. Favourite word your dog knows?

Sweet treat!!

18. What’s one training tip that worked really well for your dog?

Make it fun. If it feels like a game, he’s all in.

19. What’s one thing you’ve learned from being a dog parent?

That the little moments are everything. The slow mornings, the walks, the way he just wants to be close to me... It’s all the best part. Life’s just better with him in it.

20. Any advice for new dog owners?

Be patient and just enjoy them. It goes by so fast, and they’re learning everything for the first time. The messy, chaotic parts are part of it... and they end up being the things you miss.

21. How do you keep your dog happy and mentally stimulated?

Walks, lots of sniffing time, enrichment toys, training, and being outside as much as possible. He’s happiest when he gets to just explore and be a dog.

Rapid Fire Questions:

Treats or toys? Toys

Beach or park? A park with some sort of water!

Early mornings or late-night cuddles? Late-night cuddles (he's not a morning guy)

Zoomies or naps? Zoomies, then an immediate nap!
